Join us

Please contact us for information, come join us for one of our monthly choir practices, or come up to the choir loft after a Sunday Mass and ask to speak to Britni.

For most High Masses, we have hymnals and/or sheets available for use at the back of the church for the congregation so that they can sing along for some of the hymns during Mass. Sacred Heart Singers members learn some of these hymns at our rehearsals and are especially encouraged to join us in singing for Mass.

However, if you are interested in making the commitment to the choir so that you can participate fully in the music and singing during the Mass, please contact us.

Remember, it is said that "to sing is to pray twice" (attributed to St. Augustine).

Sit laus Deo per musica - Give glory to God through music.

Which Choir is Right for Me?

Sacred Heart of Jesus Latin Mass Choir

This choir is for experienced singers with the ability to independently sing their own voice part in polyphonic music.

  •  All members must be a minimum 13 years of age. Exceptions may apply for maturity or children with previous musical experience.

  • Potential choir members must first contact the Choir Director to have a range check to determine what section of the choir they will fit into, and should attend at least one choir practice before singing for Mass.

  • The choir is a polyphonic choir, and members must be able to sing on pitch with their perspective sections, as blending is very important.

  • Choir members should be able to read music, determine intervals, and be able to decipher Gregorian chant notation, or be willing to learn.

  • Members must attend monthly choir practices and weekly warm-ups 45 minutes before Mass starts. Attendance at sectional practices, when scheduled, is also expected.

  • Members must be willing to practice on their own time for hymns that require extra personal work, using the practice tracks on this website.

  • New members will join on a "trial basis" of 2 months to ensure that it is a good fit for everyone.

  • All families are welcome. Any children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Bring your own binder, pencil, and water bottle.

  • Practice tracks are provided on this website for home practice.
