Requiem Mass - Links and Recordings 

Domine Jesu Christe - Offertory, St. Greg 270 ee

Ladies - just a reminder you are all doing the soprano part for now (I just put the alto part up because I am singing it, and so I don't have to add it at a later date when we do learn the part).

Instructions for Requiem Mass are below. We will print off sheets for everyone to have.

In Paradisum - St. Greg 270 L

Dies Irae

Introit and Kyrie

Requiem Mass Instructions:

  • From the vestibule, Father will intone the “Si Iniquitates”

  • Chanters sing “De Profundis” from sheets

  • Choir director intones “Exsultabunt Domino” for Father to sing

  • Choir sings “Miserere Mei Deus”   St. Gregory 252  (men and women singing alternating verses) 

  • (during this hymn, Father is processing up the aisle and changing vestments)

  • When Father is at the foot of the altar, the men chant the Introit (Missa Pro Defunctis St. Gregory 270)

  • Choir sings “Kyrie”  St. Gregory 270-a

  • After the Epistle, men chant Graduale 270-bb and Tractus 270-cc

  • Followed by the sequence “Dies Irae” 270-d

  • At the Offertory choir sings “Domine Jesu Christe” in parts 270-ee

  • Before the Consecration,  choir sings “Sanctus” 270-f

  • After Consecration,  choir sings “Benedictus” 270-g

  • Before Communion,  choir sings “Agnus Dei” 270-h

  • After Communion, men chant “Lux aeterna” 270-i

  • Choir sings Communion hymns chosen by choir director.

  • Father will omit the Last Gospel.

  • During prayers at the coffin, choir sings “Libera me Domine” 270-j followed by responses to the priest.

  • After the prayer by Father, choir sings “In Paradisum” 279-l

  • Choir director will intone “Ego Sum” for Father,    followed by the chanters singing “Canticum Zachariae” 270-k
